how to make tea using dry herbs - main (c)nwafoodie

This post contains affiliate links. Guess what? Today we’re going to embrace one of life’s pick-me-ups! We’re going to make our own tea using dried herbs. Yep, I know. We all probably have perfectly good and ready-to-brew tea bags already in the pantry. But today is different. Today we celebrate a moment of pause. What is a moment of pause, you ask? A moment of pause is picking one thing that you are doing on rote and decide right here and now to elevate the experience surrounding it. ...

Hello friends! It so great to see you again! I’ve been out of town the past few weeks with family and loved ones… and I also have a new baby nephew! That means there is one more little munchkin to love on. Isn’t it THE BEST thing being an auntie (or an uncle)? Another BEST thing about vacations are coming home to a load of mail. No, I promise I am not being sarcastic… I really DO look forward to going through the pile. Every once in a while a handwritten note even makes their way in (like ...

How to de-crystallize honey - main (c)nwafoodie

Hello Monday. Monday brings promise of what lies ahead. Sometimes I like to sit and think, “I wonder what will life be like a week from now?” Happily, one week from now I will have a new baby nephew! Talk about a promise of what lies ahead. By now you know I am a lover of all things to-do-lists. Yep, I am one of those people who will add something to the list that is already done just for the satisfaction of crossing it off. Are you like that? If so, we are kindred souls. One of the ...

Pozza's Pasta Lucius and Alison Mhoon - #northwestarkansas - main (c)nwafoodie

You thought their last name was going to be Pozza, didn’t you? In the summer of 2005, Lucius and Alison Mhoon purchased Pozza’s Pasta from Mr. Felix Pozza of Tonitown. Mr. Pozza was a businessman and grocer in Tontitown, Arkansas, who started selling Pozza’s Pasta in 1971. The handmade Italian pasta actually has over 100 years of tradition and whether you realize it or not, it is an icon in Northwest Arkansas. The Mhoon’s background in Italian pasta is solid. The great aunt of Lucius owned ...

Five Foodie Finds for Friday :: here fishy fish July 14 2017 (c)nwafoodie

Happy Friday! Today’s installment of Five Foodie Finds is mixture of everyday foodie and gourmet foodie. Can you guess which items are everyday vs. gourmet? We're focusing on fish today because fish is often the forgotten protein. It gets a bad rap (which is understandable to anyone who has ever tasted less than stellar fish). The first two finds today are pantry stable items, rainbow trout and anchovies. Both will knock your socks off with flavor. Keep the trout on hand when you’re ...

This post was sponsored by Yarnell’s Premium Ice Cream, creating down-home goodness in Arkansas since 1932. Memorial Weekend is this weekend and as everyone knows… it’s the official kick-off to summer. I mean, c’mon, what screams summer more than outdoor grilling, splashing in the lake, and that awesome moment when you get brain freeze eating ice cream as fast as you can before it melts dripping down your hand on its way to your elbow? A simple way to use up plain whole yogurt.

Shop Your Pantry - over abundance of plain yogurt (c)nwafoodie

We’re big into plain yogurt over here in the Fultz household. It’s one of our pantry staples. But like anything when it comes to food, sometimes you get on a kick and then you hit a plateau where you’re over it. Or, at least you pull back from the overabundance and gently tell it that you need a little space. So I found myself with two tubs of plain yogurt. One unopened and one partially opened, with a looming expiration date. What to do? What to do? You bake chicken with a savory yogurt ...

This post contains a sponsored link to a recipe I developed for Riceland Foods. Hello you. Is your Monday behaving? I’m feeling a little peppy right at the moment after taking a ten-minute sunning break down on the dock. “Zing. Thunk. Squinting to shade my eyes from the sun and peering over my shoulder to the direction of the thunk, the line tugged and the fish was ...

Pretty and functional - Target Threshold white bowl (c) nwafoodie

There are things in everyday life that are functional and rarely pretty. Take, for instance, the average toilet paper roll holder in the bathroom. Or the six-hundred-button television remote control that sits next to the stereo remote, which sits next to the amazon fire remote. Some of you right now may be thinking, “but I put those remotes in a pretty basket,” or perhaps thinking “my toilet roll holder rocks.” If so, I want to be you. I do my best to try to find ways to make the everyday a ...

There is something quite glorious about simplicity There is something quite glorious about simplicity. I'm really feeling it as Dennis and I sit here in our living room, next to the crackling fire. Full disclosure, this picture isn't me BUT I do have the exact same coffee cup. Anyoo, I'm reminded how wonderful it is to be still. Not that I ever forget that reminder, it's just easier to revel in it, next to a fire. With snow softing falling outside. You know what I mean?
My coffee routine is alllll over the place! Firs My coffee routine is alllll over the place!

First, it was a percolator.
Then came the Breville coffee maker.
Next, along came a bodum pour over.
Quickly replaced by a French Press.
Then came an Aeropress.
Followed by a rediscovery of a favorite instant brand we enjoyed in Isreal.
Now, Aeropress is making a comeback.
And our beloved LaVazza espresso.
Which tastes like vacation at the Sonnelap in Vail.

Am I the only one who does coffee in phases?

What's next?

Probably need an espresso maker!

“Just like becoming an expert in wine–you learn by drinking it, the best you can afford–you learn about great food by finding the best there is, whether simply or luxurious. Then you savor it, analyze it, and discuss it with your companions, and you compare it with other experiences.” – Julia Child
