Hello friends! If you want to delight your friends and family, make this super-easy cranberry simple syrup and keep it stocked in your pantry. It’s delicious when added to lemonades, popsicles, drizzled on pound cake, mocktails, and cocktails like cranberry mint mojitos.

This post is sponsored by Cape Code Select Premium Frozen Cranberries. #FrozenCranberries #YearOfTheCranberry #CapeCodSelect #SelectTheBest

What is simple syrup used for?

Simple syrup is exactly what it sounds like, a simple syrup made with sugar and water. You know when make ice tea and you add granulated sugar and you have to stir and stir and stir and stir, well, you get the point. It takes forever for the sugar to dissolve and sometimes it just sits there on the bottom of the glass. That’s not very joyful, right?

So, simple syrup is technically your new pantry stocked item. Heated on the stove, the sugar dissolves with the water and you end up with syrup that can be stored away until whenever you need a drizzle of something sweet without the fuss.

Why should you use cranberries in this simple syrup?

Because we don’t do anything ordinary, do we? Making cranberry simple syrup is not your average simple syrup! It leaves you – and your guests – saying WOW!

Which sweetener is best?

This recipe calls for good-old-fashioned cane sugar. By all means, substitute with raw turbinado sugar, coconut sugar, stevia substitutes (just make sure that it is a 1-for-1 replacement), and yes, even honey. But let’s get real for a sec… honey is already in a simple syrup state, so no need to do anything else to that perfect ingredient. Keeping this cranberry simple syrup on hand is just another extension of your awesome entertaining capabilities.

How do you make cranberry simple syrup?

Get ready for the simplest recipe of all time. Of.All.Time.

Are you ready?

You are going to boil water with sugar and add Cape Cod Select Premium Frozen Cranberries. For over 70 years, they’ve been harvesting cranberries in Southeastern Massachusetts (the heart of “Cranberry Country”) and select only the ripest, freshest fruit to package. That means when you take the bag out of the freezer, you’re going to be delightfully surprised by how plump they are. I know I was!

Here’s how it works: boil ingredients, strain, and store. 1-2-3 and you’re done.

But wait, there’s more!

After you strain and store the cranberry simple syrup, the remains are….. cranberry jam! That’s right, 2 recipes in 1!

How long does the syrup last?

I keep mine in the fridge and expect it to last for months that way. Some keep theirs in their liquor cabinet or pantry. If you do that, use it up quickly so it doesn’t go bad. I would give it a week or so stored that.

Better yet, make up a batch of this super-refreshing cranberry mint mojitos. I mean, what’s not to like about that?! Leave out the rum and you have a perfect mocktail filled with mint, club soda, and the sweet touch of the cranberry simple syrup! Everybody wins!

There is something quite glorious about simplicity There is something quite glorious about simplicity. I'm really feeling it as Dennis and I sit here in our living room, next to the crackling fire. Full disclosure, this picture isn't me BUT I do have the exact same coffee cup. Anyoo, I'm reminded how wonderful it is to be still. Not that I ever forget that reminder, it's just easier to revel in it, next to a fire. With snow softing falling outside. You know what I mean?
My coffee routine is alllll over the place! Firs My coffee routine is alllll over the place!

First, it was a percolator.
Then came the Breville coffee maker.
Next, along came a bodum pour over.
Quickly replaced by a French Press.
Then came an Aeropress.
Followed by a rediscovery of a favorite instant brand we enjoyed in Isreal.
Now, Aeropress is making a comeback.
And our beloved LaVazza espresso.
Which tastes like vacation at the Sonnelap in Vail.

Am I the only one who does coffee in phases?

What's next?

Probably need an espresso maker!

Both have their places. But man, oh man, I am finding myself craving more of the latter: slow, easy, chill.

“Just like becoming an expert in wine–you learn by drinking it, the best you can afford–you learn about great food by finding the best there is, whether simply or luxurious. Then you savor it, analyze it, and discuss it with your companions, and you compare it with other experiences.” – Julia Child
