Virtual Dinner Party: Melon Mint Mojito.

Disclaimer:  Microplane and Argenta Market are sponsoring giveaways for this event. I was not personally compensated.

Thank you for stopping by our Southern Summer Nights virtual dinner party!

I am so happy to virtually see you!

(Virtual right cheek air-kiss. Virtual left cheek air-kiss)

May I get you a refreshing virtual drink?

Here, let me pour you a virtual glass of a refreshing Melon Mint Mojitos.  Mmmm, oh my.  Delicious isn’t it? Perfect for these hot muggy summer nights with its lightly sweet crispiness and soft whisper of mint.

Oh, would you rather have the PG version without the alcohol?   I have that too… don’t worry… even though it has the same name, the darker color will not leave you second-guessing whether or not you grabbed the wrong virtual drink.

Have you made it over to the virtual appetizer table yet?

Debbie really outdid herself this time with six appetizers coming your way and a helpful guide on how to plan the right amount of appetizers.  Be careful and don’t load up too much and ruin your virtual appetite. Why? Because I want to make sure you have enough belly space to enjoy Beth’s virtual side dish tomorrow andChristie’s virtual side dish on Thursday.  Julie is serving the virtual main dish on Friday, complete with Gina’svirtual table decorations.  Saturday is the finishing touch when Anita ends our dinner party with the perfect virtual dessert.

Are you still thirsty?

May I top off your drink?

If you would prefer an actual drink instead of a virtual one, here are the recipes.

Melon Mint Mojito

2 tbsp agave nectar

10 fresh mint leaves, washed and dried

2 tablespoons lime juice

2 ounces white rum

3 ounces club soda

crushed ice

4-6 cantaloupe melon balls

Place mint leaves in a cocktail shaker and add lime juice and agave nectar.  Using a muddler, muddle the mint for approximately 30 seconds to release the mint essence.  By all means, if you love mint, add as much as you like.  I prefer a whisper of a hint of mint.  Add crushed ice to shaker and then rum and club soda.  Stir with long spoon and pour into tall glass.  Add melon balls to the glass by using the long spoon, placing them strategically to where they look good enough to eat.  As you drink down your Melon Mint Mojito, the melon balls will absorb some of the mint mojito and will be a delicious ending touch to eat.

Mock Melon Mint Mojito

10 fresh mint leaves, washed and dried

2 tablespoons lime juice

2 ounces pineapple juice

¼ tsp molasses

3 tbsp agave nectar

3 ounces club soda

crushed ice

4-6 cantaloupe melon balls

Place mint leaves in a cocktail shaker and add lime juice, agave nectar, pineapple juice, and molasses.  Mixing pineapple juice with molasses is a mock replicate of rum.  Using a muddler, muddle the mint for approximately 30 seconds to release the mint essence.  By all means, if you love mint, add as much as you like.  I prefer a whisper of a hint of mint.  Add crushed ice to shaker and club soda.  Stir with long spoon and pour into tall glass.  Add melon balls to the glass by using the long spoon, placing them strategically to where they look good enough to eat.  As you drink down your Mock Melon Mint Mojito, the melon balls will absorb the molasses and pineapple and will be a delicious ending touch to eat.  Be sure to tell your guests that the darker colored drinks are the Mocktails.  Better yet, add a little whimsy to your entertaining.
