Shop with Me: 5 Joyful Things.

5 joyful things - SLOW book (c)simplejoyfulfood

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

“Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, bright vintage copper kettles and warm oven mittens. Brown parchment packages stuffed with fish and tied up with string, these are a few of my favorite thingggsssss.”

You sang along with me right then, didn’t you?

Ever since starting this blog back in 2009, I’ve always wanted to encourage anyone reading to add a little joy to his or her food-life. Whether that means using a pretty little vintage plate when eating an afternoon snack or investing in really beautiful and functional kitchenware.

Finding “balance” when it comes to “joyful” is remembering to keep things simple. I know! I know! That’s hard to do! Try walking in to William-Sonoma and telling yourself that when the clearance table is beckoning!

Guess what? I did something for you!

I created a curated Amazon storefront with twelve simple and joyful food-related categories. These are items that inspire me and many of them are my everyday staples.

If you’re looking for joyful inspiration that is balanced and simple, here are five ideas to get you going.

Let’s get started!

Shop with me: 5 joyful things:

1. Slow Living

When we’re feeling overwhelmed, it can be a challenge to find the joy in the big things, let alone the little things. I’m a big fan of author Brooke McAlary’s Slow: Simple Living For A Frantic World. This book is a fun read and one of the best guides that I have read to help eliminate the stuff in life that drags us down. Read it and let’s talk about it!

2. Joyful Kitchenware

File this under part nostalgia and part “wow, this is an amazing ice cream scooper!” A million years ago when I lived in Central California, Dennis and I would go to Thrifty’s Drug Store and get the 50c ice cream cones. I found it FASCINATING to watch them scoop the square-ish scoops. This brilliant old timey ice cream scooper does the work for you and you’ll get perfect scoops every time.

3. Cozy Your Kitchen

Anyone hear obsessed with copper? Not only is it GORGEOUS to behold when it starts to get that beautiful patina, copper has many beneficial properties for our health and environment. I’m OBSESSED with this 2.5 gallon gorgeous hammered 100% pure copper water dispenser. I mean, wouldn’t you just WANT to drink your daily dose of water intake if you had this cozying up your kitchen?

4. Joyful Beverageware

If you drink good beer, you need a good way to pop the cap off, right? This high-quality German RESEALABLE beer bottle opener ensures an airtight seal. If you’re a slow drinker who likes to savor and wants to keep the freshness inside the bottle, get this!

5. Simple Meal Prepping

5350+ reviewers on amazon have given these 3-pack heavy duty reusable grocery shopping bags five stars! I don’t know about you, but grocery bags that fall over in the trunk drive me batty! These folding and collapsible grocery bags can be stored in your trunk and the next time you shop at the warehouse club or Aldi’s, these babies will make shopping and unpacking the groceries that much easier.

Simple Joyful Food shop:

I hope you enjoyed these curated items I picked for you today. If you click on any of the links, it will take you to my storefront and you can browse all the items. Because – let’s face it – amazon is BURSTING with so many great finds! Sometimes we just need someone to guide us to the good things.

I also add a SHOP PAGE to the menu header of this blog for when you want to come back and browse.

If you have discovered awesome food-related items, share the link in the comments! Let’s help each other add more joy to our lives.

Happy shopping!

Eat happily,

Lyndi

I learned long time ago to use what you have. Otherwise, why have it?

You know I’m all about being helpful. And healthy! I’ve also been afraid to walk down that frozen or prepared foods aisle at the store, thinking, “Nope, not for me. They’re not healthy.”

I feel good about @kevins.natural.foods because I know I can still eat well by keeping them on hand, whether for the four-o-clock pinch or meal planning.

I first tried Kevin’s Cauliflower Mac n Cheese when it was a special buy at Aldi’s. The ingredients were simple and pure, and we were delighted to discover they tasted great!

The correct answer is all of them! But mostly, you can’t have Thanksgiving without turkey, sweet potatoes, and veggies. It’s un-American.

This crazy-awesome pie is stuffed with an abundance of shredded turkey, sweet potatoes, corn, peas, and gravy – Ding! Ding! Ding! – You guessed correctly! It also has ooey-gooey cheese and sour cream to add a layer of comforting delight.

Of course, you could just use two raw circles. One for the base and one for the top. Just cut some slits on the top crust so that some ooey-gooey delightfulness can do its thang.

inspiration

“Just like becoming an expert in wine–you learn by drinking it, the best you can afford–you learn about great food by finding the best there is, whether simply or luxurious. Then you savor it, analyze it, and discuss it with your companions, and you compare it with other experiences.” – Julia Child
