Several years ago Samantha Brown, of Travel Channel fame, was in France. She was sharing her experience of what I can only describe as a wine-crawl. One of the wine bars she entered had the cutest wine glasses that were more like miniature pint glasses. Think of an espresso cup in wine glass form. No stem. Those glasses made the wine seem so enticing and added a fun flair to the atmosphere. Forget the countryside of France, I wanted to be there at that wine bar!
I have been searching for years to find a little glass wine tumbler that resembles what I saw on the show. Now, I have found it!
Williams-Sonoma has brought back their classic Picardie glassware (they introduced it more than 40 years ago). These tumblers are made in France of heavyweight tempered glass and suitable for serving a variety of hot or cold beverages, from coffee and café au lait to breakfast juices and iced drinks. And yes, wine and spirits! They are microwavable and dishwasher safe.
I purchased the 3.2oz (2 ½” high) glasses which come in a six-pack for $13.50 + tax. This is the price I paid for them last week at the Pinnacle Hills Promenade in Rogers. If you do not have a Williams-Sonoma in your neck of the woods, you can always purchase them online for $15.00 + shipping.
Since purchasing these cute little glasses last week, Dennis and I have already brainstormed the many uses that we think will enhance our and our guest’s foodie experience. Like when the weather warms, we see putting these on a tray with a cheese and crackers (of course a gluten-free and dairy-free option for moi) and a decanter of wine. We imagine sitting on the back deck at evening with a flickering light, enjoying the company of loved ones.
