A few months ago I wrote an article for the Grassroots Farmers Cooperative, a farmer-owned and farmer-operated coop. Servicing Northwest and Central Arkansas, this band of farmers gathered together to share resources to satisfy a stable distribution inventory pipeline for those of us who want high-quality, sustainable, and local meats and poultry.
For this particular article I wrote for them, they provided me with a Thermapen instant-read meat thermometer.
Actually, two.
One for me… and one for you.
When I say instant-read, I mean like 2-3 seconds. No long cords or struggling to find the just-the-right-angle to attempt to read what the temperature says as the oven heat escapes. It is super easy to read from any angle and its accuracy is unmatched. Let’s just say that it is the.best.thermometer.in.the.world.
So now, let’s get to the point.
I have a free Thermapen to give away.
What do you have to do?
First, go check out the Grassroots blog, here. It is bulging with delicious ways to prepare the meats and poultry they offer. (If you want to check out what they offer, here is the link.)
For example, I wrote about an all-around delicious and go-to recipe for a smoked turkey breast with Honey and Teriyaki Glaze and I used the Thermapen to determine when it was at the right temperature to remove from the smoker.
Okay, you checked out the blog and/or site. Now what?
Leave me a comment. I want to know what types of meat or poultry you would use the Thermapen for. Extra credit (two votes!) if you also include a link to one of the recipes from the Grassroots blog.
When does the giveaway start and end?
It starts NOW.
It ends THIS FRIDAY, November 20th at 12:00 CST.
Hurry!
I want to make sure I can mail you the Thermapen in time for Thanksgiving!
The winner of the giveaway will be chosen via randomizer. So, if I were you, I would go for the extra credit to increase your chances of winning. Make sure I know how to get in touch with you. Can’t wait to see who wins!
Good luck!
Eat well, my friend. Eat well.

Hi Lyndi, I think a Thermapen would be super to use with any kind of meat. It would be especially great for turkey or pork. Here's a recipe that sounds great to me

I need a meat thermometer! It's one kitchen tool I haven't jumped at buying just yet. I would most likely use it more for large roasts in the slow cooker, large chicken breasts on our cast iron skillets on the stove, and eventually some steaks once my fiance and I get a grill.

Sweet giveaway! I would use it while making a whole roasted chicken like the one in this recipe:

My husband carries his old meat thermometer with him in his satchel! It's hilarious and he deserves this upgrade! He's an amazing and creative chef! The first meal he cooked for me included a reduction he made up on a whim! It was a beautiful dinner under the stars in camping chairs! He would cook this and it would be amazing! http://blog.grassrootscoop.com/2015/08/smoked-ribs-with-raspberry-peach-chipotle-glaze/

Rachelle McGowen: I have never had a kitchen thermometer and often times leave meat on for probably much longer than needed, just to be certain it has completely cooked!! This would be an awesome addition to my kitchen !
I believe this was my favorite recipe:

The pen would be great for large pieces of bone in meat- the cook time is always a little different on them. And this recipe for lamb looks delicious. I love cooking with beer.

ALL THE MEATS!!! Bring me two of every animal and I will survey their internal temperatures as they warm themselves over the fire. Or maybe just some yummy chicken thighs. http://blog.grassrootscoop.com/2015/06/grilled-chicken-thighs-with-mustard-sauce/

I'm a vegetarian, so no meat temp testing for me. I do love an egg on a sandwich though!

Our thermometer just went missing after a big event, so this would be super useful right about now. We'd use it immediately for turkey of course, but I loved the sound of this lamb recipe to try over the holiday season: http://blog.grassrootscoop.com/2015/07/rack-of-lamb-with-herb-and-guinness-mustard-crust/
