Holding on to autumn.

holding on to autumn (c)nwafoodie

The weather is taunting us with its fickleness.  Warm. Cold. Warm. Cold.

Oh autumn, you are such a tease.

Every Friday for the past three weeks I have stepped outside my front door and snapped a photo of the ever-changing kaleidoscope of colors.  It is a marvel. As I roll out of the driveway each morning these past few days, the tires of my car go snap, crackle, and pop over thousands of fallen acorns.  Are the squirrels on strike, I wonder?  Will this be a mild winter so they could-care-less about gathering every last morsel?

I leave you with a time-lapse, of sorts, of my driveway’s personality these past few weeks.  The stark change in terrain and the exposure of the richness of the wood’s beauty is inspiring to me.

Which makes me wonder.

What inspires you about autumn?  As you look out your own front door and view your changing landscape, how does it inspire you?

It inspires me to spend more time outdoors.

It inspires me to go for more leisurely drives with coffee in hand.

It inspires me to make soup.

It inspires me to have more casual get-togethers and long interesting conversations.

How does autumn inspire you?

Let’s make the most of it!

I dearly love autumn as well. Even though I'm a die-hard summer fan, autumn always takes a happy turn in my heart. I'm missing your sweet face. Definitely after Christmas, it's let's get together for lunch time.

Love the time lapse photos! Many a morning on driving out of my neighborhood I have wished I had my phone/camera with me to catch the autumn colors! Thanks for doing that for me. Although my driveway looks a bit different 🙂

This year the colors were so gorgeous and then poof! They were gone!

In fact, if someone were to ask what my favorite color was… I would say… autumn!

      Miss you.

You will find that I talk a lot about food because we all need to eat. Why not add little bits of food joy where possible?

There is something quite glorious about simplicity There is something quite glorious about simplicity. I'm really feeling it as Dennis and I sit here in our living room, next to the crackling fire. Full disclosure, this picture isn't me BUT I do have the exact same coffee cup. Anyoo, I'm reminded how wonderful it is to be still. Not that I ever forget that reminder, it's just easier to revel in it, next to a fire. With snow softing falling outside. You know what I mean?
My coffee routine is alllll over the place! Firs My coffee routine is alllll over the place!

First, it was a percolator.
Then came the Breville coffee maker.
Next, along came a bodum pour over.
Quickly replaced by a French Press.
Then came an Aeropress.
Followed by a rediscovery of a favorite instant brand we enjoyed in Isreal.
Now, Aeropress is making a comeback.
And our beloved LaVazza espresso.
Which tastes like vacation at the Sonnelap in Vail.

Am I the only one who does coffee in phases?

What's next?

Probably need an espresso maker!

Record player turntable = slow, easy, chill

Both have their places. But man, oh man, I am finding myself craving more of the latter: slow, easy, chill.

“Just like becoming an expert in wine–you learn by drinking it, the best you can afford–you learn about great food by finding the best there is, whether simply or luxurious.
