Hiland Ice Cream’s newest flavor, Outlaw Run, is the taste of summer.

May 26, 2013 33 Comments
nwafoodie ice cream giveaway

Disclosure:  Hiland Ice Cream Company sent me a bundle of coupons to try out this ice cream and other Hiland Diary products… which I promptly forgot to use. Oh well, some lucky one will be getting something extra in their giveaway packet.

***UPDATE:  Congrats to the six of you who will receive a free coupon for Hiland Ice Cream: #1 Tara Ballowe May, #2 Elizabeth Toll, #4 Larissa May, #6 Gina Knuppenburg, #12 Blueberry Acres Farm, and #13 Vicki! Lucky duckies!  ***

Memorial Day weekend holds a special spot in my heart.  It marked the weekend when my swim team pool in Cary, North Carolina would open for the summer and life was all-of-a-sudden one hundred percent better. Summertime meant swim meets, road trips, summer camp, campfires, BBQ, ice cream cones, amusement parks, and magical twinkly lightning bugs.

I believe that summertime is a mixture of memories and anticipation.

And happy times.

I believe that ice cream tastes like summer memories and anticipation.

And happy times.

I have free ice cream for you. Free Hiland Ice Cream, which is made with fresh milk and cream from local dairy farms with no antibiotics or artificial growth hormones.  This isn’t a serious ooo-I-can-only-afford-to-give-you-one-scoop-of-this-fancy-smancy-ice-cream ice cream.  This ice cream is for large crowds of happy people who want to finish the container.

They have a new feature flavor called Outlaw Run. It is crammed full of chocolate chunks and swirls of sea salted caramel in rich vanilla. The taste makes me want to go for a ride with the windows down and do that hand wavy thing as I take a leisurely going-nowhere-in-particular drive.

Why did they name this flavor Outlaw Run? To celebrate the newest $10 million dollar attraction at Silver Dollar City, the world’s only wooden roller coaster to twist upside down three times.  Since Branson is just a short drive away from Northwest Arkansas, I am sure many of you have this on your summer to-do list.  Now you have the ice cream to enjoy on the ride.

1.

Want to try a free carton of Hiland Ice Cream?  Leave a comment below telling me what is your favorite “taste” of summer.  Six of you will get a free coupon. Contest ends this Friday, May 31st at 8:00P.M. (CDT).  I will pick a winner via randomizer.

2.

Hiland Ice Cream is giving away… (4) guests pasts to Silver Dollar City and a chance to ride Outlaw Run… AND… a years supply of ice cream… AND… $50 gas card… AND… $200 cash to go towards a one-night stay in the Branson area (so you can sleep off that ice cream hangover).  Details on how to win that giveaway, including deadlines, are on their site.  Go there after you enter your comments to win a free carton Hiland Ice Cream from me.

Any questions?

Ice cream contests are serious matters and I am here to help.

It’s time to get your summer on.

Happy summer!

No purchase necessary to enter. Contest void where prohibited. Contest open to members who are 18 years or older. Contest open only to US residents only.  Honestly, if you want Hiland Ice Cream, you’re going to have to live in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Oklahoma in order to buy it… or know someone who lives here.  Figured you would want to know that.

The Outlaw Run feature flavor can be found in Northwest Arkansas CV’s stores… I found mine at
Marvins in Fayetteville.  If you score a free coupon, you can use it for any Hiland Ice Cream flavor,
which can be found just about anywhere in assorted flavors.

I like Nectarines and summer fruit. This is a great time of year for fruit salad. I once used to get friends together for breakfast and tell everyone to bring one kind of fruit. We would combine them all and divide it up among ourselves. Yum.

Make sure you follow that link to enter the Silver Dollar City contest. The odds are 1/5,000 which seem like pretty good odds to me.

Have you had coconut chicken? I'm craving now.

I look forward to the first batch of fresh new potatoes cooked with homegrown yellow and green beans; with onion/garlic/maybe a piece of ham thrown in. These are all boiled together, drained and mixed together with a can of evaporated condensed milk and butter…..oh my, my mouth is so watering now…..come on summer!

Holy smokes…I want an ice cream hangover! I have to say for summer flavors, it's anything warm from the garden. Sounds weird, but I am convinced that strawberries taste better when they are grown in our organic pasture and warmed by the sun. Also looking forward to trying peaches and apples from the trees on our new farm this year-looks like we are going to have a great crop this summer!

Summer flavors are fabulous it means fresh picked strawberries and home churned vanilla ice cream. As the growing season proceeds then fresh picked peaches with home churned vanilla ice cream. You can never have too many of the wonder fruits of summer – blueberries and watermelon……
