De-Icer Martini made with beet juice and a touch of salt

If beet juice and salt are good enough for the roads, they're good enough for a martini. So enjoy this tasty martini made with beet juice and a touch of salt.

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce water
  • 1/2 tsp beet powder
  • 4 ounces gin (or vodka)
  • 2 ounces extra dry vermouth
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt

Instructions

  • Chill glasses by filling with ice cubes and cool water. Sit aside and dump before serving.
  • Stir one-ounce of water with beet powder and stir until thoroughly dissolved. Depending on the quality of your beet powder, you may have to strain to remove particles.
  • Fill cocktail shaker half way with ice and add all ingredients, including beet juice, and hard-shake ten shakes. 
  • Strain and pour into glasses and serve.
