The Lowel Ego adds beautiful natural light that is great for indoor food photography.

Once the official beginning of autumn started a few weeks ago, did you notice how quickly the days instantly shortened? That means that the seasonal window for taking pictures after work in the beautiful daylight is dwindling down. Which means my photos will start looking all yellow-ey again, no matter how much I try to “fix” it in editing.

Which means it was finally time to hire an assistant.

Friends, meet my new assistant, the Lowel Ego tabletop lamp.  He comes highly recommend from photographers and food bloggers around the globe and is highly accomplished.

I am super jazzed about this employee. In a nutshell, he provides a soft light that allows me to achieve virtually the same affect as soft natural light.

Even inside.

At night!

Here are a few examples for you to see for yourself.  I used my Canon 50mm lens, which already brings in a lot of light.  The Lowel Ego light just tweaks the lighting in a way to bring out a more natural glow with clarity.  You can use the lamp by itself and it will cast a nice shadow or you can use it with a reflector board on the other side, which bounces off more light and therefore has no shadows.

Either way, I love it.

Pretty cool, huh?

The box came with easy installation instructions and also highlights how it is also great for adding a pleasing glow if you conduct video conferencing or take portraits.

Even though I purchased mine through amazon, I called the manufacturer to ask them a question about the light bulbs and they gave me the direct number of someone in customer service who was willing to go the extra mile to make sure I was completely satisfied.  He even offered to replace a bulb, even though I purchased through amazon and not directly through them.  Then, he even gave me his number to call back in case amazon was not able to take care of my needs.

See? I told you I hired a great assistant.

Eat well, my friends. Eat well.
