Some of my favorite hacks for slowing down, living simply, and eating happily involve Snacky Snacks.
Have you ever heard the theory that pastors preach about areas in their lives that are a struggle? I think I can relate because it’s probably why I talk a lot about slow living. It’s always been a struggle for me to stop “doing,” and sitting still feels like a guilty pleasure.
And yet…
Sitting still is necessary! As humans, our bodies work best when we rest and recharge. God even set aside the seventh day as a day of rest. He knew we would need to slow down and breatheeeeee.
What are Snacky Snacks?
Snacky Snacks are snacks on steroids. They are thrown together to be more than a snack because they’re an event.
They can even be themed: keto Snacky Snacks, carby Snacky Snacks, vegetarian Snacky Snacks, Italian Snacky Snacks, whole-food Snacky Snacks, summertime Snacky Snacks, Thanksgiving Snacky Snacks, or Kentucky Derby Snacky Snacks.
Snacky Snacks are a compiled presentation of unique snacks that can replace a meal.
Extra credit if you collect attractive trays, dishes, and unique ingredients.
Extra credit if you have snacky snacks on the patio.
But why the patio?
A patio is an area outside your home, preferably in a yard. And there’s no roof over our heads with a patio. This means that watching clouds or stars, or maybe even the alley between your building and the next, is all part of the Snacky Snack experience.
Close your eyes and picture the experience…
You and your spouse/friend.
A slight breeze touches your hair.
Two birds swoop down and start rummaging for worms.
Geese honk on their way to a water source.
Kids’ laughter is coming from down the street.
You pour yourself some more wine/water/lemonade/beer.
Listening intently to your spouse/friend, you reach over without skipping a beat and grab another olive/jerky/nuts/cucumbers/cheese slice/pickle and you realize…
“Life is good.”
That, my friend, is the Snacky Snack experience.
Let’s put more of the good in our lives.
Eat well, my friend.
