Perk up with a winter-blues cocktail.

Winter blues cocktail Mountain Valley Springs AD (c)nwafoodie

The daffodils are pushing through. I find it odd that the crocus didn’t come back. Where’d they go? Were they as confused about this winter as I am?   Did they get the winter blues? Maybe something scientific and botany-ish happened and something in their growth cycle just decided to check out.

So far this winter has been warm, hot, cold, chilly, warm, hot, cold, chilly, and warm. Which doesn’t mean a thing because we still have over a month until the official start of spring. And, for those of us in Northwest Arkansas, that doesn’t guarantee anything. Snow can still visit all the way up into May!

Maybe that’s why mid-February is often the time when winter fatigue kicks in.

You know, the time when you want to get outside and stay outside. When you don’t have to wear a coat in the morning and shorts in the afternoon.

Do you need a winter blues cocktail?

Perhaps this little perky cocktail will do the trick.

I created this winter blues cocktail for Mountain Valley Spring water (sponsored) and it involves organic green tea for a peppy kick, satisfying honey, refreshing mint, and finished with spiced rum for that tropical hint of warmer days ahead. Check out the recipe on the Mountain Valley Springs blog for more details.

Oh, want a fun little tip?

Use honey as “glue” and apply to the rib of mint leaves and decorate the inside of your cocktail glass. Who says that cocktails can’t also be craft projects?

Pretty, isn’t it?

Eat well, my friends. Eat well.

inspiration

“Just like becoming an expert in wine–you learn by drinking it, the best you can afford–you learn about great food by finding the best there is, whether simply or luxurious. Then you savor it, analyze it, and discuss it with your companions, and you compare it with other experiences.” – Julia Child
