It’s Sunday and the long Thanksgiving weekend is winding down. Are you tired of over-the-top desserts yet? Are you declaring that you are going on a diet and never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever eating anything sweet or carb-y again?
Maybe you are thinking about chucking the last bit of the Thanksgiving leftovers because you are so sick and tired of them… but your conscience won’t let you throw it away.
Good thinking.
You just need a new fresh perspective.
First things first, since it is Sunday and time is ticking on that turkey and you don’t want to get sick from eating too old poultry, please strip what is left from off the bones and either eat it right away or go ahead and store it in the freezer.
The carcass is perfect for making broth.
Go ahead and stick in a large crockpot and fill it up with water and turn on low for 4-6 hours. You’ll want that broth for later.
However…. if you decided to go ahead and eat that turkey, leftover rolls, leftover root vegetables, and yes… most likely the leftover dessert for dinner tonight, here is the final segment of part 1, 2, 3, and 4 Thanksgiving series with local channel 5 morning news KFSM. Anchor Heather Lewis and I talk through helpful ways to use up Thanksgiving leftovers in new magically delicious ways.
Watch the video.
If you are curious about how to make that leftover turkey appetizer, the recipe is here. The beet salad is now on my weekly dinner staples list. In fact, that is what we are having for dinner tonight! Here’s how to make it, here.
Happy getting back into pre-Thanksgiving shape.
Eat well, my friends. Eat well.
