4 things to look for in a cutting board.

4 things to look for in a cutting board - main (c)thejoyofeatingwell

Turn on the Madeleine Peyroux Channel on Amazon Music and load my countertop up with all types of veggies and meats to chop up and I.am.a.happy.girl. If that’s a situation that doesn’t appeal to you, well maybe it isn’t you. It’s your cutting board. Today I want to chat about 4 things to look for in a cutting board. So, at the end of the day you can finally purge all those piles of cutting boards that you have stacked up in your kitchen cupboards.

I’m looking at you, awkward-glass-board-that-makes-a-horrible-scraping-noise-each-time-you-use-it.

I’m looking at you, warped-wooden-board-acquired-from-a-forgotten-time-and-place.

I’m looking at you, stained, ugly, too big, too small, or just I-have-too-many cutting boards.

You have my full permission to keep any sentimental cutting boards. Those bring joy and adding joy is always acceptable. However, consider these 4 things to looking for in a cutting board and ask yourself if your cutting board will – ahem – make the cut. You will find all 4 of these characteristics in the Chop-Above Antibacterial Cutting Board. If we’re friends on Facebook, then you’ve probably seen tons of videos of little ol’ me demonstrating this cutting board. Sometimes a picture of something in action speaks louder than words, don’t you think?

1. You want one that is safe.

Of course you do! Who wants an unsafe cutting board? No one, that’s who! The Chop-Above Antibacterial Cutting Board has a food-safe antibacterial infused in the plastic. In addition to unsafe bacteria, some cutting boards wiggle around and can slip. Not the Chop-Above because it has multiple silicone grips, which make it safer to use when you are chopping ingredients because that means that the board doesn’t slide.

2. It should make your life easier.

Of course it should! Who wants a harder life? No one, that’s who! Because the Chop-Above Antibacterial Cutting Board can be raised, it’s easy to use all the time you are chopping on the board because as soon as you cut, you swipe the chopped food into a bowl that sits below the board. Chop, swipe, drop into a bowl. Chop, swipe, drop into a bowl. You literally keep a clean board as you prep all different types of veggies. Another great feature that makes life easier is that it is dishwasher safe, unlike wooden cutting boards.

3. The right size for all occasions.

Of course it is! Who wants the wrong size? No one, that’s who!  Remember how the Chop-Above Antibacterial Cutting Board makes life easier because you keep a clean board? Well, it’s also the right size because you don’t need a bigger cutting board. You can cut whatever you want because it falls in your bowl. Compare that to other cutting boards where the more you cut, the less space you have. You don’t need anything bigger or a huge cutting board because you’re always working on an empty board. Another reason why it’s the right size for all occasions is that it folds down to one-inch. So maybe you don’t want to cut into a bowl and you don’t have to. Because it folds down to one-inch means it’s perfect for storage for RVs, small kitchens, and large kitchens.

4. Bonus points if made in America.

The Chop-Above Antibacterial Cutting Board is patented and made here in the good ol’ USA. While I am a fan of special treasures and fun things sourced from all over the world, I like knowing that this cutting board is made here.

So I’m curious about your cutting boards. How many do you have? I have the Chop-Above, of course, and a few others with sentimental value: a wooden handmade one from a friend, one from my favorite childhood restaurant, and now that I think about it… two plastic ones that are stained and ready to be thrown away.

Warmly,

Lyndi

You know I’m all about being helpful. And healthy! I’ve also been afraid to walk down that frozen or prepared foods aisle at the store, thinking, “Nope, not for me. They’re not healthy.”

I feel good about @kevins.natural.foods because I know I can still eat well by keeping them on hand, whether for the four-o-clock pinch or meal planning.

I first tried Kevin’s Cauliflower Mac n Cheese when it was a special buy at Aldi’s. The ingredients were simple and pure, and we were delighted to discover they tasted great!

The correct answer is all of them! But mostly, you can’t have Thanksgiving without turkey, sweet potatoes, and veggies. It’s un-American.

This crazy-awesome pie is stuffed with an abundance of shredded turkey, sweet potatoes, corn, peas, and gravy – Ding! Ding! Ding! – You guessed correctly! It also has ooey-gooey cheese and sour cream to add a layer of comforting delight.

Link in bio for my Thanksgiving-inspired pot pie that uses three @wickspies 8″ raw circles. One for the base and two to cut lattice strips (using a ravioli cutter) so that it looks extra pretty. Of course, you could just use two raw circles. One for the base and one for the top. Just cut some slits on the top crust so that some ooey-gooey delightfulness can do its thang.
