Five Foodie Finds for Friday :: Mother’s Day.

This post contains sponsored content.
Mother’s Day is five weeks from now so I thought it needed it’s own “five foodie finds” edition.  You know, to give us time to find the perfect gift that mom would truly want.
Whenever I post “five foodie finds,” I like to highlight the unusual. Why have ordinary when you can have extraordinary? That is my philosophy, at least. One website that I often highlight is uncommongoods, based out of Brooklyn, New York. I like them because half of what they sell is made by hand and they really support and provide a platform for artists and designers. That’s cool. They run their operations out of the historic Brooklyn Army Terminal, including their warehouse where the lowest-paid seasonal worker starts at 50% above the minimum wage. And, I like that with every purchase you make; they donate $1 to the non-profit of your choice. Everybody wins!
If you need some ideas for Mother’s Day, the folks at uncommongoods have already curated a plethora of suggestions here and here.
Here are a few of my favorites. What are yours?
1.
Reclaimed wood cookbook stand. This is a gift that is both functional and a stunning décor statement. Fashioned out of reclaimed wood from Europe, this stand is perfect for the latest “it” cookbook gift for mom or to hold her tablet.
2.
Slate cheese board. Is Mom proud of her home state? Let her silently proclaim her state pride each time guests come over to visit.  These slate cheese boards are available for all states (but we all know that Arkansas is the best). UPDATE: This particular slate cheese board is sold out and uncommon goods will often refresh their inventory, which is great! Check out their Personalized Gifts page to browse where this product lives when it’s in stock… or check out this super fun table grazing extra-long cheese board!
3.
Stoneware compost container. April showers bring May flowers and May’s flowers bring… summertime vegetable gardens! Does mom have a green thumb? Does mom grow tomato plants from seed? Does mom line up early on Sunday mornings at Lowes Garden Center to get the first crack at the vegetable plants? If you answered yes to any of these then mom is going to want a well-made compost container that doesn’t stink.  This stoneware compost container is the one.
4.

Wiener dog oil and vinegar set. Do these little pups look familiar to you?  I’ve highlighted them before for a Five Foodie Finds for Friday and they still make me smile.  Is mom is still sticking to her goals for eating healthier?  She will love these little helpers.

5.
Oven to table entertainment platter. This is the beauty that I recently ordered from uncommongoods. It is perfect for entertaining since the soapstone can be frozen, chilled, or heated.  That versatility is workhorse! On Friday night I had the family over with close friends and this platter took center stage for the appetizers.  I chose to pre heat the soapstone in the oven while we grilled dates stuffed with Gorgonzola and cream cheese and wrapped in pastrami. The wooden tray that houses the soapstone allowed me to serve my guests inside and outside the house and then it kept the dates warm for my guests on the counter. It was perfect!  Next up will be the cool function, which will be perfect for this upcoming summer soirees.
Happy Mother’s Day browsing.
Eat well, my friends. Eat well.
